Hans J Wells is with us today! He is our first Isekai Author. And we are ecstatic to introduce our readers to the MM Dark Fantasy mastermind! Without further ado, Hans, take it away!
So let me tell you guys about how I got the idea for the story Rose and Glass.
Ever since I heard the story, I loved Cinderella. I have to admit, when I was younger, it was mostly because of the pretty pictures in the fairytale book I read it from, but as I got older it was because she was one of the princesses in Disney and all who was, well, a tad bit different. And I was always fascinated on how Cinderella's stepmother hates her. I wondered, what could provoke such a hate?
As I thought about that, a story started to unfurl. Of a boy whose rightful heritage is being taken from a woman who liked to see him suffer, and make him suffer, a story of a boy who was not as innocent as the real Cinderella was. And so, Rose and Glass was born.
So, there are two courts in the fae Lands, Seelie court and Unseelie court. The Seelie court is led by the Seelie queen, her king consort, the princes and the princesses and a handful of nobles. They are the children of the dawn, who needs the light to thrive. Their magic is derived from the sun, and their powers are more involved with life. The Unseelie court consists mainly of goblins, boggarts, Sith and many more.
However, the Fae creatures doesn't actually live up to their names. Faeries in general does not like humans, and those that are willing to engage with them sees them as means to an end. Which is why they use human babies to implant the hunter spirits without any sort of remorse or regret.
Despite what humans believe, the Seelie and Unseelie fae are not friendly. They are constantly at each other's throats, as both courts believe they are superior to the other. Many a conspiracy takes place within the courts, resulting in many power struggles. But of course, humans are oblivious to them, because their accords deny them that information.
You could explain a lot of things to happen in part 1, but mostly you would be introduced to this brand new, mythical world our characters live in. You will see how Cinder came to be the way he is, you will learn about the annoying voice in his head who is responsible almost all of Cinder's woes, but is actually his only companion, you will learn about his sadistic and negligent stepfamily.
As for the characters, I can't wait for you to meet Hunter. Personally, I love writing him. He's a disgruntled fae spirit who is just as annoyed as Cinder is about his situation, and although he is supposed to be a terrifying creature by design, he might be the only one in Cinder's life who cares about him. That is...for now. Hunter wishes that things could be different for the frail boy who had to carry his burden, but at the end of the day, he is as powerless as the boy is.
Cinder might also be one of the realest Character I wrote. While he knows he's being treated badly, he won't let it affect him. He cries and laments his circumstances like anybody would, he hates it with a passion and often gets angry about it, but that doesn't mean he accepts his. Hunter, the spirit in his head, my think otherwise. He thinks cinder has accepted his fate, but cinder is still an ember in the ashes.
You may not believe it, but in a way, my own self. I find myself relating to him so much, his quietness, his anger, his indignation, and as we will come to see, his snarkiness and his hidden desire and passion to live and love. Cinder is teenage me, stuck in a reality he can't come to terms with, angry but having no capability to do anything about it.

What about the faeries in your book? Being that it's dark fantasy, tell us about the Seelie & the Unseelie.
Sounds amazing!! Now, being that this is Dark Fantasy, can you tell us about the faeries that reside in Rose & Glass?
I'm ready to answer any questions you got for me, ask away anything :))
